I got another one just barely done for Merry Monday. Challenge #264 was to use kraft and red with only just a bit of neutral colors. I love this combination and I wish I would have made a couple different ones but one is better than none.
So here we are with a fairly simple card. Red patterned paper in the background. I decided to be different and die cut kraft snowflakes. I used snowflake dies by Tattered Lace (D111). You can’t really see it in the photo but I used a Spectrum Noir sparkle pen to give them just a little sparkle. The greeting also has Spectrum Noir on it. The greeting is die cut using a Sizzix Tim Holtz set Holiday Words (660058). As usual I was putting this together at the last minute. Literally I posted it at the last minute. The greeting is not actually stuck down because the Spectrum Noir pen was dumping lot’s of liquid so I could not get the backing paper off the back or I would have messed up my die cuts. As I was writing this up I realized there is no stamping on this card which is unusual for me.
Another similar card with kraft snowflakes and a slightly different look.
That kraft background – I used a Memory Box stencil Winter Tiny Snowflakes and some white ink.
The red panel is a patterned paper which is hard to see in this photo.
The sentiment – Hero Arts set Color Layering Dimensional Bird (CL906) and white ink.
Kraft snowflakes – Same die as above.
These cards were done during the OCC class Sparkle and Shine. They are the technique of foiling. It was fun and I had never done it before.
I do not have a machine for this so the technique I used was double sided adhesive. For the owls I think I used Stick It and for the large Happy Birthday I used Sookwang sheets. I think they both worked pretty well and I like how they turned out. I was pretty pleased also that they came out pretty decent the first time. If you have little spots where the foil isn’t there it is easy to fix.
The owls have rose gold Deco Foil on them and the greeting has the same. The washi tape is from Hobby Lobby I think and I really wish it was rose gold also. This card was so darn hard to photograph and it looks much better in person. I must of taken 10 shots of it. The owls are cut with a Tattered Lace die called Baby Owls. The sentiment is a Simon Says Stamp die.
For the large Happy Birthday I used the rainbow Deco Foil. There is some gold spray splatters on the white paper which is hard to see in the photo. Under the white background panel is a black mat and then the shiny gold mat/base of the card. The sentiment was cut out using an Elizabeth Crafts die Happy Birthday. The gold splatters are most likely Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold. Fairly simple card design but I really like it.
This is a card I made for my hubby for his birthday. The background is stamped with an Impression Obsession stamp called Wooden Plank and some Quick Quotes ink if I remember correctly. The scallop circle is cut out with Spellbinders die Classic Scalloped Circles from kraft paper. The edges of the card base, the background, the circle and the owl are inked. The cute owl is cut out with a Tattered Lace die called Baby Owls. There are 3 owls in the set and they are super cute. The owl is also inked. His eyes and the squiggly’s on his chest are highlighted with a gold Wink of Stella pen. The greeting is cut with an Elizabeth Crafts die and is dark blue which is kind of hard to tell in the photo.
