Sugartree Stamps Party Animal

Hello to you all! Here we are cruising through summer and it is a new month and time for a new challenge over at a2z Scrapbooking. For the August challenge we have a birthday theme. Always a good one because we all need those. I pretty much never buy cards anymore.

Sugartree Stamps Party Animal Digital Image Stamp

For today’s card I decided to use a digital image. I was also trying to have it be something I could send to a guy. It’s so easy to do the girly stuff but not so easy to make the guy cards.

I created this card using the Party Animal Sugartree Stamps digital image in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store. As you can see it has no animals on the card. This set is fun because there are a couple animals along with a cupcake, cake and several sentiments. I like the repeated image for the background so that is what I did for this. I got one cupcake to the size I wanted and then just did a copy and paste many times so that I had a background of cupcakes. I enlarged a cupcake which is the one I colored with Copic pens and cut out.

The sentiment is die cut from the same paper that is on the background. I colored over it with a Copic pen to minimize the circle pattern.

The vellum that covers the cupcake background worked out good to tone them down some.

This looks like a simple card and it is. But you crafty folks know how it goes.. I had a paper pad and was trying all these different pattern papers from it and it just wasn’t working. Finally I like this one and I think it helps with trying to have a more masculine look. The vellum was a last minute thing that just happened because I was cleaning up something and ran across the vellum and thought this would work on my card.

Sugartree Stamps Z Fold Card

Howdy! I am over at a2z Scrapbooking with a Z fold card. Fold cards are very new to me and they are the theme of our April Monthly Challenge. I used the Sugartree Stamps Mothers Digital Stamp to create my card. It is available in the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy store.  Feel free to use my discount code karen15 to get 15% off your purchase of $25 or more at the a2z Scrapbooking store.

Sugartree Stamps Mothers Digital Stamp

Here we go with possibly my first fold card. I was excited about doing this so that I could learn something new. There will be more photos making the fold much more clear. I got the idea from Jennifer McGuire’s post. And here is her card. Nice as always.

Back to my card.. I cut a piece of Neenah paper down the center vertically. I used a Hero Arts background stamp and stamped it 3 times with 3 different Distress ink colors. 2 times I shifted it but kept it in the same direction and 1 time I turned it a quarter turn and stamped across the card.

The watering can and flowers image is from the Sugartree Stamps Mothers digital set. I sized it and then printed it on some Neenah paper. I did all the coloring with Prismacolor pencils. I need to bring them out more often. I used a Spellbinder die to cut out the watering can and the mat under it.

Now for the fold part and the gotcha part. So that long stamped piece of paper gets folded in half with the stamping inside. Then the front piece gets folded again downwards.

I cut out a duplicate of the two scalloped ovals. One is with the image and the other on the “inside” of the card to write a message.

And the gotcha is when you are gluing down the oval with the image on it. Do not apply glue to the entire back of the oval since part of it hangs off the card. You will never guess who did that and as soon as I closed the card… oh no! I quickly pulled it apart. I cut out one more purple oval and glued it to the back of the image oval to cover all the darn glue. Then I glued it on correctly. I am not used to have things hang off a card. Now I also have a bit of glue on the “inside” oval. Us card makers have our tools and I have a gum eraser that removes glue thank goodness. Problem solved!

One more look at the card..

Sugartree Farmhouse Thankful Card

Howdy! Today is a new month and I am over at the a2z Scrapbbooking blog with my fall thankful card for the November Challenge. The details for the challenge Give Thanks and more card inspiration are on the blog. I decided some plaid and farm animals were the way to go.

a2z Sugartree Farmhouse digital set

The Sugartree Farmhouse digital kit worked really well for what I had in mind. You can get this digital kit at the a2z Scrapbooking Etsy shop. There are so many things you could use this for from Spring to Fall.

To start out I brought the 3 animals into the Cameo Silhouette software to create cut files so I could cut them out using one of my favorite papers ever from the Lawn Fawn paper pad Perfectly Plaid Fall. I just saw them in plaid right when I started looking at this digital kit. After I cut them out I inked the edges using Quick Quotes ink. The cool thing about the Quick Quotes ink is they have points on the ink pad to make it much easier to get in the small areas.

Next I used a pierced die to cut out the rectangle from a darker kraft paper. The orange plaid rectangle is cut with a die also called Wonky Stitched Rectangles. And then an A2 size panel out of the same darker kraft paper. All of these were inked around the edges. The top most rectangle is popped up by using a slightly smaller piece of fun foam.

I printed the sentiment on a piece of Neenah cardstock changing the font color to a brown. I cut the sentiment out using a banner die. I used Quick Quotes ink again to ink over the banner.

Halloween Hug in a Mug

Howdy! We are now into fall which brings thoughts of Halloween, leaves turning colors and Thanksgiving. I love to decorate for Halloween (fun not gory) and I am still thinking about all the fun coffee cards from last weekend so I combine the two. Here is a Halloween coffee card for you.

I started out making the mugs which are digital images by Sugartree stamps. I used the mug outlines for these. There are 11 different cups of coffee in this set, some with sayings, some blank and some with designs on them. I used Paint 3D and sized the mugs. I used words from the Hero Arts Spooky Labels digital kit and the little pumpkin from the Hero Arts Haunted digital kit to decorate the mugs. I printed the images on Neenah paper colored them using Copic pens. I cut them out by hand.

The panel right behind the mugs was fun to create. I used the Hero Arts Wood Floor bold print stamp to create the pattern in orange, purple and green inks. I used my Misti and stamped horizontal with the first color. I turned the paper so that the next stamp ended up vertical with the second color of ink. I turned the paper one more time for the third color for a diagonal. I like the pattern it made and it would work for many different situations by just using different ink colors.

The orange and purple layers are patterned paper from my stash. The green background paper is from my stash. I rounded the corners and cut the shapes using a Bo Bunny die.

The middle coffee cup is glued flat on the pattern panel. The other two mugs are raised with Glue Dots.

Entered in the Love Handmade Cards Challenge for October. The theme is Anything Goes.
