Christmas Layering Bird

Here is the card that started it all. That is multiple slightly different versions of this. I made this for Hero Arts Scramble 161 10/14/17. I made several of these and never described them or blogged them. Oh no how could that be? I thought I blogged about every card since I created my blog. I wonder how many others I forgot to do? Ha! Anyway on to the card.

Hero Arts Scramble 161

  • Background – I stamped the poinsettia’s in Versamark using the Hero Arts set Color Layering Dimensional Bird (CL906). The berries are obviously red ink.
  • The branch – I stamped the branch then die cut it using the dies (DI153) that go with the set mentioned above. The branch stamp and die seem a bit miss matched so I fixed it up a bit by coloring it.
  • The bird – I stamped the bird using the same set. It is fun because all the different areas on the bird are seperate stamps so you can make it nice and colorful. I stamped a second top wing and die cut it for a little bit of layering. The feet also are cut out with a die.
  • The sentiment – Guess what? It is from the same set. Just stamped on the background.

Christmas Bird - County Fair Entry

This is the version that I put aside and entered at our county fair.

Which One is Different?

These are all the versions I made with very slight differences. If you would like to comment on which one you like best that would be nice. Just use a number for reference for example card 3.

Merry Monday Challenge 224

Merry Monday’s Challenge 224 was to create a masculine Christmas card. It is not to easy for me to create the masculine cards but I thought this blueprint sketchy tree stamp worked.

I had a lot of fun creating this since it is not quite my usual but I like the inky grungy Tim Holtz look. The green and red background papers were from a Christmas paper pad by Pink Paislee called Yuletide. I stamped the Sizzix/Tim Holtz Tree Blueprint (659379) on off white paper. IĀ also stamped the tree 2 more times and the star 1 more time. The dies that go with the set cut out sections of the tree (one cuts the top 2 sections and the other the top section only) and there is a star die. There is also a die for the whole tree which I did not use. So the tree at the top has 3 layers and the middle has 2 layers and the star has 2 layers. This is hard to see in the photo. I colored the tree, star and the ornaments with Copics. I also used a gold Wink of Stella pen and Pilot silver marker. I used Gathered Twigs Distress Ink around all the edges of each layer of paper.
