Hello! Here I am with a birthday card for my son. He turned 30 in May. Does that mean I am getting old? Ha! It kind of hit me. Lately he has been doing a lot of mountain biking. So that explains the card. The bike looks kind of ghost like but his bike is gray so there it is.
The background is a combination of stamping, ink blending and coloring with Copics.
The dirt is ink blended and then stamped with an old Stampin Up stamp I found in my stash that is perfect for dirt. The grass I think is ink blended. The trees and mountains are colored with Copics. The sky is ink blended. The birds are stamped using a Hero Arts set.
The bike stamp was a lucky find. I got it the same day I made the card which was either the day before his birthday or on his birthday. I got it at either Michaels or Joanns and neither one has that great of a selection so I was very lucky to find it. It may not look like a mountain bike but at least it doesn’t have a cute basket on it with flowers.
I put the sentiment on the inside because I didn’t want it on the scene.

Howdy! Today I have two cards I created using the Heartfelt Creations Wilderness Retreat Collection. I got several of the sets because my husband and I love the mountains. For these particular cards my husband asked me to make a card with just mountains and the flying bird. When I started I just wasn’t seeing it. So off I went and got carried away creating a much different scene than he was wanting so I reeled it back in and created a second card like the wanted it. Sometimes your tangent has to happen so you can picture the original request. You card makers will probably get that.
Here is what he wanted.
For the background I did a watercolor wash with mostly blue with a few touches of purple. I used watercolor paper.
The mountains and trees are stamped, die cut from watercolor paper and colored with watercolors.
The bird is stamped, die cut from watercolor paper and also colored with watercolors.
The frame around the scene is die cut with ink blended over it.
When I went off on a tangent this is what I created which lead me to creating the more simple card.
A lot of the same things were done with this card. The background is watercolor wash. Everything is painted with watercolors except the fish. I used a metallic pen for that. The mountains are stamped directly on the background. The trees and lake are die cut and all one scene. The bird is also die cut. The frame on this one is not a woodgrain look and just die cut out of brown cardstock. The scene and frame is popped up with foam.
