Howdy! Today I have a layout to post. Many of the card makers I have met over the years probably don’t know that I scrapbook too. I also probably haven’t posted hardly any scrapbooking stuff on my blog. I started out scrapbooking and went to card making. I still like it but hardly do it. I have many page kits to put together so I started digging around in them to organize them and get some put together with photos on them. This was the first to be done. Quick Quotes made the kit so I cannot take credit for the design but it is such a nice layout.
The background for the two dogs was created with an embossing folder Bricks by The Paper Studio. After embossing I painted over the bricks with a couple of red Distress Oxide inks.
The two dogs and the ball are from the Tim Holtz Crazy Dog set (CMS271). I colored all of them with Copics and hand cut them out. On their eyes and noses I used a glaze pen. It took me awhile to find the glaze pen because the black was in the pencil cup upside down. My eyes just didn’t spot that for awhile. I had it up at Lake Tahoe so I was glad to see I did not leave it there. The ball by Lucy is there because she would play fetch for the entire day and night if you kept throwing for her. It’s kind of funny too sometimes if you throw an orange ball instead of her favorite yellow ones she will just watch it go and drop and not even go after it.
The sentiment was cut out with a die from Elizabeth Crafts.

I was struggling to figure out what to get my hub for his birthday. It finally hit me, make a fun frame with a photo from our recent Tahoe trip.
I started out with a plain light wood frame. I used several different colors of Distress paints on the frame to create the streaky wood look. I was very happy how that came out.
The trees were die cut from water color paper that I had water colored with a couple different greens. The die is Sizzix/Tim Holtz Woodlands (660978). I ended up cutting a couple more trees out and glued them together so the trees were thicker. I also put some inks over the original watercolor. Then I was having trouble with white showing from the bottom layers of trees so I ended up spraying the trees with some Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist. So let’s just say those trees have many layers. Note to self go around at least the edges of the paper layers underneath with some ink or spray.
The letters I had and inked them up with some Distress Oxide inks.
All the wood pieces I had and I just colored them with different inks or Copics. The bird is supposed to be a blue jay which are very common at Lake Tahoe.
The photo is of my hub and our two dogs Aspen and Lucy at Fallen Leaf Lake. The brown and black dog is Aspen and Lucy is the black and white dog.
This was a fun project and I am really happy with how it turned out.
I made this background some time ago for something where it did not work but I really like it for the background on this. I embossed with a Sizzix folder called Woodgrain I think. I think I thinned out some ink and painted it over the embossing. Like I said it was awhile ago so I can’t quite remember all the steps. For the wreath I used a die from the Hero Arts September 2016 My Monthly Hero set and one from an Impression Obsession set (DIE023-X). The guitar and the sentiment are some random stamps I have. I hand cut the guitars. My hub plays the guitar so that is where I was coming from. He has been a great step-dad to my son and a great dog dad.
Our two dogs Lucy and Aspen. We adopted these two at the same time. We wanted two so they would have each other to hang or play with. At first it was kind of a challenge. Partly because one of them has taken much more time to come around. For instance she is afraid of the dark. Anyway they are not buddy buddy but they like each other and get along well. They romped and chased a few times when we first got them 5 months ago but not much since then. Just the other day out of the blue for two days in a row they decided to chase each other like crazy and do some wrestling. I think the first day Lucy (the black and white dog) took the points. The second day I think Aspen (the brown and black dog) took it. I got photos each day.
They are fun to watch and each one has their own thing going on. Lucy will fetch and bring back a ball or toy the entire day long and doesn’t care about much else. Aspen likes to chew on the toys and squeak them but doesn’t care much about fetching. They are both sweet girls.
This is Lucy. She is such a smart dog. She slide open the shower door to lick the water off the shower floor and it is not that easy to slide. She also knows when the phone rings around 7 pm it is Scott my husband calling to make sure the dogs are in the house or secure in the back yard so he can pull in the garage. She starts running back and forth looking out the front window and going to the garage door to see him. She also loves chasing the flashlight beam so when I go out to roast coffee beans at night she follows me right out and will wait for at least 7 minutes for me to play the flashlight game with her.
