Hero Arts Scramble 124

Today’s Scramble was hosted by Janet and she came up with a fun, unique and challenging Scramble. Here are the two options. I did one of each. I am not sure how I pulled off two cards in the 90 minutes but once in a great while it happens. These are the type that you have to do more thinking for and I like that!

I used Option A for this card.

Option A:

2 – Use TWO colours – red and blue Prismacolor pencils. I just colored lighter and darker to “change” the color. The silver is a neutral Wink of Stella pen.
0 – NO die cutting
1 – Use ONE image – The snow people is a Hero Arts stamp called Snowpeople Border (H099).
6 – Use SIX embellishments – snowflake sequins and white iridescent sequins.
The sentiment was from Hero Arts set Thanks a Bunch (CL663) stamped with a pigment ink which I don’t do very often.

I used Option B this time.

Option B:
2 – Use TWO images – The snowman with the snowflakes (Hero Arts stamp Let It Snow CG233) is one stamped image and the snowflakes in the background one snowflake (Hero Arts set Designer snowflakes CL622) stamped multiple times.
0 – NO embellishments
1 – ONE diecut – The diecut is the square Spellbinders die Marvelous Squares (S4-383).
6 – SIX colours – red, green, blue, yellow, purple, green
Colored with my new Prismacolor colored pencils.
Snowflakes in the background stamped with Versamark frost which I used more this season than ever before.
The sentiment is from Hero Arts set Thanks a Bunch (CL663).

The Rest of the Christmas Cards..

Here is the rest of the cards I made this year. Many of the stamps I used are Hero Arts stamps which are my favorites. The ideas were really flowing this year and I saw that if you dive in deep it helps with the thoughts flowing. I could hardly finish one card before another idea started. I thought wow maybe I am really a card maker now. Ha. It was fun but a bit hectic. This year I am going to try to make them all year long. We’ll see how that works out. If you have any questions about any card do not hesitate to ask.

Hero Arts Secret Santa

blogIMG_9386

This is the card and ATC card I made for the Hero Arts Secret Santa exchange along with the goodies I sent. I was Secret Santa to Linda. This is the first time I have participated in this and it was a lot of fun.

I received a nice card and fun snowman ATC from Laura. I also received some fun crafty goodies wrapped in fun green paper and red washi tape (clever).

blogIMG_9388

For the ATC – I created a hill and used Distress Glitter on it. The background is water colored. I embossed some snowflakes on the background using Hero Arts White Satin Pearl Embossing powder. I maybe have done something else to the background but I can’t remember what. The greeting is from Joyful Tidings Tag Set by Lia (DC167). The tree is from Hero Arts set Family and Friends (CL803). All the ornaments are embossed along with the star.

For the card – It is kind of hard to see because of the metallic background but there is sheet music stamped in blue on the silver. The background behind the deer is watercolored. The deer is from the Hero Arts set Swirl Christmas (CL469) embossed with silver powder from PSX. It is a good thing these powders last forever because I have had this one a long time. The greeting is from Hero Arts set Family and Friends (CL803) and embossed in white. I stamped snowflakes on the background with Versamark Frost I think it was.

Masculine Owl Birthday

blogIMG_9366

Here’s a card I made for my male cousin. The background paper is from a Bo Bunny 6X6 pad called Camp-a-lot. It obviously by the name is outdoor type theme. It is a good one for male cards. The next layer is embossed with a Tim Holtz folder called woodgrain. The tree is a die cut by Memory Box – Small Alder Tree. The owl is a stamp from Hobby Lobby. I heat embossed the owl with brown powder on a piece of balsa wood. The balsa wood was cut out with a Spellbinders die Curved Rectangles (S5-006). I then colored in the owl with Copics. The sentiment banner is Spellbinders die Ribbon Banners (S4-324). The sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp More Sketchy Banner Greetings set. The embossing powder by Sparkle N Sprinkle is called white but is really more of a winter white which is what I was going for. The photo is a bit washed out but the card has been mailed so here it is.

Christmas Circles

blogIMG_9353

For the background on this card I used Hero Arts set Peace & Joy (CL880). It has several circles/ornaments with patterns, a solid and an outline. I used the red and green inks that came with the My Monthly Hero October card kit. The gold ink Delicata Golden Glitz. The label with the sentiment is cut with a Spellbinders die called Ribbon Tag Trio Two (S4-234). The sentiment is from Hero Arts stamp Merry Christmas Script (D5615) and embossed with JudiKins Egyptian Gold powder.

Hanging Ornaments Gold & Silver

blogIMG_9335blogIMG_9329

This card may look fairly simple but.. I made several before I got the almost perfect one that made me happy. The ornaments are done in steps with the background part stamped, then the pattern on the ornament, then the top part and finally the hanger. At first I made one with no spatters so I had to make another one so I could see how the spatters looked. I also wanted to do both gold and silver to be a little different. Then there is the sentiment which didn’t go quite right on one version. One ended up in the trash. Anyway this is the one I like the best.

Stamps – Hero Arts sets Peace & Joy (CL880) for all the ornament parts and the sentiment is from Holiday Petals and Leaves (CL787).

Inks – Reds and Greens from My Monthly Hero October Card Kit. Delicata Golden Glitz, Encore Silver

Splatter Sprays – Glimmer Mist Silver Bells and Heidi Swapp Color Shine Gold

This was hard to photograph so the darker one is at night in my craft room. The lighter photo is natural light outside in the shade during the day.

Inspired By Scramble 123

blogIMG_9323

I started making this during Scramble 123 hosted by Kim. Her theme was use tiny stamps to make a Christmas background. I put 3 or 4 snowflakes on an acrylic block and stamped them all over. I embossed them using Hero Arts White Satin Pearl powder on watercolor paper. I stamped the snowmen which is an old Hero Arts stamp I found at a thrift store recently. It is Snowpeople Border (H099) from 1995. I painted the sky with watercolor paint. In my hurry to try and do this card during the Scramble I was working on the bathroom counter to do the water coloring. It was just quicker to grab some water and get it done that way. Ha! I colored the snowmen with Copics. The cheeks may be a bit to pink but they will have to be that way.

Hero Arts Scramble 123

blogIMG_9321

This card was done for Kim’s Scramble 123. The theme was to use itty bitty stamps to make a Christmas background. This was a fun theme. It got me using my Misti which made things a whole lot easier. I have had my Misti since June and have pretty much not used it.  I watched a talented you man demo several different ways to use it recently and it reminded me to get that thing out and use it. All the stamps from the background and sentiment are from Hero Arts set Holiday Petals and Leaves (CL787). The ink for the greeting is Delicata Golden Glitz and for the background Color Box Frost White.  I discovered that Delicate Gold pigment ink does not hold on to embossing powder very well while making this. The shape for the sentiment was cut with Spellbinders die Fancy Label Tags One (S2-099).

This year has been fun so far making cards for Christmas because I started early and have lots of ideas. This Scramble just added to the fun. It was also a little easier since I had my stuff out and had my mind on card making for Christmas.

Handmade Kindness

1447358400438-1169771069

I made this card to go along with Handmade Kindness which I think is a such a great idea. This is for a woman who gave us great service at a deli and she told me she serves 150 seniors many days of the week. How awesome is that. I am away from home so I am doing this week’s challenge where I am.

My card is made with limited supplies but you find out you can come up with something. I have only white paper and a piece of orange paper. The brown paper is inked up white. All of the fall things stamped are from Hero Arts set Holiday Petals and Leaves (CL787). I cut the stitched rectangle at home and brought it with me.

I have learned a lot trying to post to Flickr & Jennifer’s blog all on mobile devices. It can be time consuming. I will not take my pc at home for granted.
