Watercoloring with Hero Arts June 2019 My Monthly Hero

Hello to you all. I have another card I created for Libby’s Challenge in the Hero Arts Fanatics group in Facebook. This time it is for the all time favorite My Monthly Hero kit. But.. truth be told I can’t pick an absolute favorite kit. There are many that I love. I tend to like the animal ones. There is safari, jungle (this one today), under the sea and aquarium.

Distress Oxide Inks

To create this card I chose the June 2019 My Monthly Hero kit. As you can see it has a jungle theme. Lot’s of fun animals and plants. I decided to use the Daniel Smith watercolor palette that came with the kit which I have not used up until now. So I stamped the images and watercolored them and then used the dies that came with the kit to cut them out. I enjoyed the watercoloring.

The sentiment is from the kit and got a little goofy when I stamped it but sometimes you just have to go with it.

The background was created after watching one of the Tim Holtz demos. It is the wrinkle and ink technique. I used mixed media paper and crumpled it up. Then lay it out and put a couple of green Distress ink pads direct to paper. I then sprayed some water on it. After it dried I ran it through my Big Shot to flatten it back out. It is a fun technique. It may a bit busy for this scene but I think the colors are great for a jungle scene.
