Halloween Shaker Pumpkin

Halloween Pumpkin Shaker

I got a few Halloween cards done and sent but not as many as I wanted to. I really like this Hero Arts pumpkin die! It is from Hero Arts die set Autumn Icons Fancy Dies (DI431).

The background – I just created a watercolor panel.

The greeting and images by the greeting – for the greeting I cut it out with double sticky or put glue on the words and sprinkled Martha Stewart fine glitter on it. I tried cutting it out of glitter paper but I just couldn’t get to cut thru and didn’t want the hassle so went another route. The bat and spider web are stamped using images from Hero Arts set Halloween Trimmings Stamp & Cut (DC197). I used Versafine black ink for these because it is nice and bold especially when stamping on watercolor paper over a somewhat dark color. The greeting is also from the same set.

The pumpkin – kind of an interesting process. I had to think ahead to get this how I wanted it. For the most part it all worked. Except… the shaker doesn’t actually shake. So I made a watercolor background for the pumpkin. I cut a pumpkin out of the purple panel and added the orange background to the back of it. I cut the pumpkin out again and watercolored it. I left out all the sections as you can see. I wanted an inlaid pumpkin. Then comes the tulle and the fun shaker sequins. Then the next part is where I didn’t think ahead. I glued the tulle and shakers stuff down then glued the pumpkin over top which had glue all over the back. Between the glue and maybe a bit to tight on the tulle the shaker sequins are all kept in place. It still looks fun but wasn’t quite what I was trying to do.
