Hero Arts Scramble 146

I was the hostess for Hero Arts Scramble 146 in Flickr. It was the first Scramble for 2017. For the Scrambles you have 90 minutes to create a card using the theme. Some Scrambles everyone is creating at the same time which mine was. Others go for 24 hours and you pick your 90 minutes when you have time during the 24 hours. This works well so that more people are able to participate.

Here is the description of  Scramble 146. Out with the Old, In with the New. In this case it doesn’t mean get out old stamps and get rid of them. It means get out old stamps and use them. So.. Get out your oldest stamp either the oldest you remember getting or the oldest by date. I have a few newer to me I found in a thrift store that are from 1995 and I got them in the last year. Anyway… if you should make a second card then use your newest stamp. The twist is create a background with something other than a stamp or stencil. I used a piece of lace and inked over it and on the other card I waded up a piece of foil and flattened it with an acrylic block.
• Use your oldest stamp.
• Create a background using something around your house.
• If you get to card two use your newest stamp.

Here are my examples.

For this I scrunched up a piece of foil and smashed it down with an acrylic block. Then inked it up.

For this background I inked over a piece of lace.

Back to the foil on this one.

For the first card there is the ink over lace background using Hero Arts Butter Bar ink. I wasn’t sure if it would seep through and kind of run all over but I think it made a nice pattern. The stamp is my oldest Hero Arts stamp called Two Irises (F213) from 1990. The text is Hero Arts stamp La Letter (K5344). The dies that I used are from Bo Bunny Nested Fancy Frame set.

The second card I started the night before my Scramble but my eye was having a problem that worried me so my mojo kind of went. I ended up posting it after the Scramble. The background is the waded up and then inked up piece of foil. The flowers and leaves are from a fairly new set to me Color Layering Hibiscus (CL868). The sentiment is from Spellbiinders die set Sentiments One (S2-082).

It is a lot of fun to host and watch the cards coming in and not having the stress. It is also a lot of fun to participate in the Scrambles. If you have not and have some Hero Arts stamps check it out. Here is the link to the Hero Arts group in Flickr. https://www.flickr.com/groups/heroarts/

There were only 4 people participating so I decided to send everyone something.  One reason is I just felt like it and another is I was participating a long while before hosting so it was time to throw out some prizes. In the package for each person I included these tags. It was alot of fun to make these.
Distress inks for the backgrounds.
Hero Arts Stamps – Newspaper Tulips (K5576), Background La Letter (K5344), Playful Animal (CL832), Exotic Bloom (H5424), Dandelion (G4917).
Sentiment – Not sure..
